Group Scout Leaders and District Commissioners Forums - Weekend Workshops

During the autumn of 2010 and the spring of 2011, the association will be running a series of weekend workshops in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the eight English Regions.

These events will be aimed at providing targeted support and information to Group Scout Leaders, District Commissioners and Supporter roles as well as giving us an opportunity to hear your views on where we should be focusing resources.

The purpose of these workshops is twofold – an opportunity to hear from the UK Chief Commissioner on the work to-date on our vision to 2018 and to help shape the future work and support. Offering larger events means that we will provide you with more tailored workshop opportunities, networking potential and a great all round experience.

This is a great opportunity to have your say about how HQ services and the support you get generally should develop over the next few years and is part of our commitment to get better at listening to the movement – so please come and join us.

Have you heard of Hertfordshire's Peak Assault?

David Bellamy

15th - 17th October 2010

Location - Classified

Peak Assault is Hertfordshire Scouts' most challenging competition organised for members of the Scout Association aged 14 and over and is now in its 43rd year. The competitors must use their orienteering skills, physical ability and mental strength to navigate their way across unforgiving terrain 'clipping' as many checkpoints as they can within the allotted time. The competitors must also carry all the equipment they will need for a night on the hills.

Each year the location is a closely guarded secret, only known to a select few right up until the start of the event. There are three competition classes, Explorer (14 - 18), Network (18 - 25) and Senior (25+). Visiting and training teams from other Counties and organisations are welcome in all 3 classes.

Full details of what the competition entails and its history can be found online at www.peakassault.org.uk. For 2010 all entry criteria, instructions and kit lists are online at www.hertfordshirescouts.org.uk/index.php/activities/peak-assault/peak-assault-2010.
