Circa £21,000 p.a.(3 year fixed term contract) Essex County Scout Council are seeking to appoint a Local Development Officer to recruit new volunteers and grow scouting within the Essex area. You should be highly organised, be self motivated to work on your own, be able to build working relationships with a wide variety of people and have experience of Project or Programme Management. You should also be MS Office conversant with good administration skills.
The job involves a flexible 35 hour week with the majority being evening and weekend work, you will be required to travel extensively throughout the Essex area. To be suitable for this position you must have your own transport and a full driving licence. You must accept the aims and methods of Scouting which will be sent to applicants in an information pack.

The appointment of a Local Development Officer by Oxfordshire Scout County is an important element in taking that vision forward in this part of the country. Our vision is to bring Scouting to more young people in our area. In this role you will contribute to the strategic development and growth of Scouting. Your key tasks will include supporting and recruiting volunteers as well as supporting the overall growth of the County.
The job demands a flexible approach and frequent evening and weekend working will be required. You need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage a diverse workload. You must be enthusiastic, able to enthuse others and self motivated. You need to understand fully and be committed to the ethos of the Scout Association, with a clear grasp of how it can work in rural and urban communities. You must have a full driving licence and be familiar with Microsoft Office applications. Previous experience in youth work and the voluntary sector is desirable.
Salary: Starting salary £22,000 per annum, depending upon experience. Mileage allowance: 40 pence per mile. Holiday: 28 days per annum, this includes Public Holidays.
