Maulden Scouts Given Ring Side View Of Queen's Birthday  Rehearsal

Seventeen Scouts and their leaders from Badger Hill Scout Group had a ring side view of the Trooping the Colour rehearsal at Horse Guards Parade in London on Saturday. Courtesy of Scout Headquarters, the youngsters were among 250 Scouts from around the UK chosen to represent the movement. They were escorted to their special enclosure within a few feet of the marching guards in their sparkling uniforms.

The rehearsal was the Scouts chance to get close to the action as horse drawn gun carriages, guards in ceremonial uniform and the imposing figure of Prince Charles made sure the Queen’s birthday celebration would go without a hitch. They were part of an audience of over 5,000 who enjoyed the pageantry in glorious sunshine.

Afterwards, the Scouts saw London sights including Horse Guards protecting Whitehall and the parade ground as well as Trafalgar Square and the new international station at St Pancras. Scout Leaders Helen Draycott and Belinda Wilson organised the event and said afterwards, “This was a chance of a lifetime for our Scouts. The whole experience was amazing.”
