Bedfordshire Lord Lieutenant and County Scouts President Samuel C Whitbread has been honoured in the 2010 Queen’s Birthday List. He has been made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order for services to the monarch. It is a richly deserved award for all the work he does within the county.

Mr Whitbread was appointed as county president in 1991 after he became the county’s Lord Lieutenant on 28 February 1991. One of his roles is to encourage voluntary supporters and in this capacity he is a great ambassador for Scouting. He is the third Whitbread to hold the title of Lord Lieutenant.
